A PowerPoint
has to be submitted along with the report. You
should also be prepared to discuss your findings.
This project has to be done in groups. |
Pick any IT
related aspect and study that in detail. For
example, we discussed in class, how do requirements of
computers change with profession - you can test this by
going to a big retailer and see what configuration they
recommend for different professions and why? You can
also perform similar exercise for networking equipments
etc.
The project is not limited to IT. As a matter
of fact you are encouraged to pick a project in your
area of major and see how IT is used. For finance
this can mean maintaining simulated online portfolio of
stocks, for marketing, it could mean studying the role
of peer-to-peer websites in creating loyalty etc etc. |

Every Week by
Sunday and discussion in every class |
As per class
participation terms
9
Three evaluations (3 points each) on random times
decided by me. |
The contents
will be evaluated based on the depth of your study and
the display of understanding that you present on your
website.
This has to be done in groups. |
This
assignment is more like a self study exercise to
encourage class participation. You are required to
prepare for the next weeks topic in advance by reading
the relevant text online or through books. For
example you can use resources on wikipedia.com, google
search, and/or library to study the next weeks topic.
Once this is done you will write a short synopsis on
your website of what you understand about the topic and
be prepared to discuss the same in class.
The list of topics is available at
here. 2. Discussion of technology news in class.
Read it at google news > technology |

The evaluation
of the website will be based on the fulfillment of the
following requirements.
1. All the links should be working. You can
remove the extra default links if you don't need them.
2. Website should give a basic introduction about you
e.g. you can put your resume. Don't give out too
much personal information like birthday, DL#, SSN and
don't give out information that you are not comfortable
with others too see or search engines to record for
decades.
3. There should be a webpage/link to blog for 2340 class where you
will post your assignments.

webpage. This will probably already be there by
default. |
Sign up for a
free domain name (e.g. www.yourname.com) at
http://officelive.microsoft.com/ and create a
starters website using the templates already available.
The office live basic is free. Unfortunately, you won't
be able to use Firefox on this website.
Note: You will be required to give your credit card
information. I personally feel it is ok to do so
and you being business majors should also be ok using
your credit cards online (Only on reputed and secure
sites). However, if you are
absolutely against it, let me know, I will give you an
alternate way to create one.
